Dr. Schechter is a Board Certified plastic surgeon specializing in Gender Affirmation Surgery. He serves on the board of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. He helped author the 7th and 8th Edition of the Standards of Care, and serves on the editorial board for two transgender medical journals. He won the 2013 IL State Bar Association Award for Community Service, was recognized by the National Center for Lesbian Rights for his care of transgender and gender diverse individuals, and has authored the first surgical atlas concerning Surgical Management of Transgender Individuals.
