In the United States, over 553,000 Americans are homeless, 40 million people struggle with hunger, and 40.6 million officially live in poverty. Many individuals and families need short-term stabilization before they can find housing that will meet their long -term needs. There are many organizations and non-profits that assist the homeless. We list types of homeless assistance including emergency shelters, clothing assistance, food assistance vouchers, social services organizations, dental assistance, housing assistance programs, medical assistance, and a range of support services including eviction prevention, emergency services, transitional housing and permanent affordable housing.
